I hold an M.A. from Bilkent University's Department of Turkish Literature, which I earned in 2001 after submitting a thesis focused on the novels of Suat Derviş.
Suat Derviş (her real name is Hatice Saadet Baraner) is a forefront name of Socialist Realist literature in Turkey.
I am a Ph.D. Candidate at Leiden University, in the Department of Turkish Studies. My Ph.D. dissertation focuses on the March 12 novels, a specific set of novels written after the coup d'etat of 12 March 1971.
